Autism Spectrum Disorder Resource Centre

The Autism Spectrum Disorder Resource Centre of Central Catalonia (CR TEA CC) seeks to help the families of children, teenagers and young people with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) upon diagnosis and throughout their lives.

It is a non-profit organization formed by 140 families that provides free psychological counselling, support groups, reduced-price therapy sessions and a recreation centre on Saturday mornings (to give families a break).

The CR TEA CC welcomes volunteers at the recreation centre on Saturdays, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at its facilities on Carrer Pau Casals, s/n, Manresa, which are open to children from all over Central Catalonia. At the Saturday recreation centre, each volunteer is assigned to a specific child or teenager. There is one volunteer per child.

The ASD recreation centre is a service aimed at child members/participants that supports their personal and social development in a fun and relaxed environment. The project nurtures social, communication and autonomy skills through activities tailored to each child's individual needs.

There is a special focus on group and interpersonal interaction, communication (both verbal and non-verbal), the acquisition of new interests through play, decision-making abilities and time and frustration management. The structured nature of the activities helps ease the children's anxiety and prevent disruptive behaviour.

The service prioritizes children's well-being and highlights the importance of families' involvement and volunteers' dedication to ensure that they receive high-quality support.
