Fundació AYO - Accelerating Youth Opportunities
Fundación AYO (Accelerating Youth Opportunities) is a social incubator based in Madrid that generates, fosters and supports projects that give young people at risk or in a situation of social exclusion solutions for personal and professional growth. Its aim is to strengthen the support ecosystem for this group by taking three separate lines of action: mentorship projects (AYO Impulsa), support for social entrepreneurship that creates opportunities for young people at risk (AYO Emprende), and skill-building for professionals and community organizations (AYO Acelera).
El voluntariat amb la UOC, un plus al teu currículum
Impulso Project: an intergenerational mentorship project between senior (over 50 years old) volunteers and vulnerable young people. The mentors draw on their experience to support the young people they are mentoring one on one, in their both academic and personal life, sharing their knowledge with them and giving them their time and attention.
The training lasts approximately six hours, divided into three sessions that include social mentoring theory, practical cases and aspects related to the management, organization and performance of mentoring within the framework of the Impulso project.
The mentoring sessions are held in the educational centers or residential centers to which the young people who are part of the project belong.
Time availability: The mentoring sessions are held once a week with a duration of at least 60 minutes. The schedule is established based on what is agreed upon by the mentor and the mentee, depending on their availability.
Duration of the volunteering (start-end): Between six months and one year, extendable.
Registration deadline: Although most assignments are made around October, there is no registration deadline because young people who want to join the project can do so at any time, so that places can open up throughout the year.
