Justícia i Pau works to promote a fairer society and a solid culture of human rights and peace based on Christian social thought. To this aim, it is proposed to raise awareness and educate citizens and influence public authorities with educational activities, publications, conferences, seminars, interventions in the media, among others.

Volunteering in prisons
Prison volunteers take on a dedicated mentoring and support role. They support inmates with no close relationships (family, friends or other social contacts) by listening to them and helping them both while they are in prison and after they are released. We are looking for mature adults who are good listeners and can definitely commit to volunteering for at least a year to build a bond with the inmate and help them to become fully rehabilitated and reintegrated into society.
Age: 18+
Prior training: You must take the 20-hour course provided by the Ministry of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Government of Catalonia and attend various internal training sessions held by the organization. This counts as hours of volunteering for optional credit recognition purposes (for bachelor's degree students).
Type of collaboration: On-site.
Time investment: Three hours per week (not including travel time to the prison).
Starting date: Information sessions for anyone interested in this programme are held in October or November of each year. The internal and accreditation procedures with the Ministry of Justice and Democratic Quality of the Government of Catalonia start after the information session. Please note that these procedures may take a couple of months.
Location: Catalonia.
